"Alice in Wonderland"? Just can't quite seem to go there

I don't care that Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" is the #1 movie in America for the third straight week. I still don't see anything about it that makes me want to run to the theater. Don't get me wrong...I've always really enjoyed Tim Burton's work and his frequent collaborations with Johnny Depp. This just doesn't draw me in at all, and it didn't even when we saw the 3D preview at Comic-Con last year.

Could the high box office tallies be that there isn't another fantasy or sci-fi movie out right now to enrapture movie fans or take them somewhere out of this world? Probably. Now in a month and a half there will DEFINITELY be a movie worth going to the movies to see again and again. Of course I'm talking about "Iron Man 2"!

WAR MACHINE!!!

Ya know 3D is once again the go-to fad for studios & audiences. Next up is Smell-O-Vision and a return of Sensurround. So there a four draws to this movie: 3-D, Depp, Burton and like you said, it's genre.

The market will become saturated with cheap 3-D makeovers and poorly done upgrades, the polish will come off the apple and nobody will care anymore. And then Cameron will turn filmmaking on it's ear again in 12 years and everyone will need to copy that!

YEAH, WAR MACHINE!!!

But yes I agree. This is once again another fad that is having it's day now but will pass in time, whether long or short. Also, the whole wave of 3D TV's that's about to hit the market seems very premature. I think they're going to be dinosaurs before anyone can say 'hey where can I take this outdated 3D television to have it recycled?' in Na'vi! LOL!

Absolutely.....Cameron will be back with the next level as he's done three times before ("Terminator 2", "Titanic", and of course "Avatar") and THAT will become the next big thing.
