"The Dark Knight" beats "The Mummy" at the box office!

YES! The unstoppable juggernaut of The Batman movie rolled right over Brendan Fraser's half-baked sequel! GOD BLESS IT! Went to see "The Dark Knight" for time number three last night. Caught even more detail and subtle nuances I'd missed previously. So much to enjoy and savor in this movie.

This week will be a true test of the #1 spot with "Pineapple Express" and (dare I think this will be a threat) "The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants". I think if anyone's going push Christian Bale and crew down a notch it just might be Seth Rogan, at least this far into the release...but you never know. I'd love to see Chris Nolan's masterful film keep rolling into the top spot for a forth week. Fast approaching the $400 mil. mark!

BTW, I love the fact that "Iron Man" still tops them all as far as early summer releases are concerned. This from the boxofficemojo.com chart of the top 100 as of this past weekend starting at #16. GO SHELL-HEAD!:

16. Iron Man
17. The Incredible Hulk
18. Tell No One
19. Kit Kittredge: An American Girl
20. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
21. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
22. Sex and the City

"Speed Racer" is at #50....thank you for playing, bye-bye!

Well I dig the Mummy franchise, but I didn't really think it stood a chance.
And if you look at the top 100 grosses for 2008, "The Dark Knight" & "Iron Man" are 1 and 2 right now! (Our man Indy is number 3.)

Laugh all you want folks but It is the summer of the geek. Pocket protectors will be all the rage on red carpets and catwalks this year.
